MAN CHAPTER'S SPRING LUNCHEON 2010

Event Date: Thursday, May 13th, 2010 at 11:30am

World Wings Manhattan Chapter is proud to announce that the Spring Luncheon

will be held at Battery Park Gardens inside Battery Park, Manhattan

Thursday, May 13th, 2010 at 11:30am

How do you replace Tavern on the Green?  Here's how.  When Pan Am Clippers were leaving from New York Municipal Airport and ferries transported affluent Manhattanites to the beach resorts of Staten Island, there was a small gem of a park overlooking New York Harbor.  The Clippers are gone, the airport was renamed to honor Mayor LaGuardia and the Manhattanites now go to the Hamptons or take the Verrazano Bridge to the Jersey shore, but Battery Park is still there and still commands a world famous view.

Battery Park Gardens meets our criteria:  it's spacious enough to hold a lot of people, has wall to wall windows so every table has a view and it's affordable!  Accessible by boat from New Jersey and Staten Island and numerous bus and subway lines from the rest of the City, including Grand Central and Penn Stations, it is in the center of all the activity in lower Manhattan, yet still quiet and beautiful.  If you are not ready for the day to end after the Luncheon, you can take a ferry ride past the Statue of Liberty and enjoy the memorable view of the lower Manhattan skyline, go to South Street Seaport or simply find a bench in the park and enjoy the sea breeze.

As always, there will be a wine reception on the patio (weather permitting) followed by a three course lunch including beer, wine and soft drinks.  We are looking forward to another wonderful event.  Invitations will be mailed in early March.  Many thanks to President Carina Kingson and Events Chairperson Norma Reubel for their perserverance in finding a new home for this much loved event.
